QA-48, 11 December 2021, Statement of the Spokesperson of the MFA, Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç in Response to a Question Regarding the Decisions Taken by the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 10 December 2021

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 11.12.2021

Türkiye has always been at the forefront of efforts to maintain peace and promote prosperity in the Balkans and particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We share the concerns regarding the decisions taken at the special session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska on 10 December 2021 like all friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We consider that the decisions taken in the entity assembly are harmful to the constitutional and legal framework and therefore detrimental to the peaceful and prosperous future that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve very much. It is also a challenge to the peace and stability of the Balkans and the whole Europe.

We will continue to strive, together with the international community, for Bosnia and Herzegovina to return to its real agenda, on the path of economic development, as soon as possible. With this understanding, we call on those who will bear the responsibility of harming peace and prosperity to abide by the constitutional and legal framework and resort to dialogue instead of unilateral actions.

Türkiye is determined to strongly support Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
