Secretary General of the Council of Europe H.E. Thorbjørn Jagland will pay a visit to Turkey on 3-4 August 2016 to express solidarity and spirit of cooperation between Turkey and the Council of Europe and exchange views on the latest developments following the bloody terrorist coup attempt in Turkey.

During his visit, Secretary General Jagland will hold a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and meet top state officials. He will also visit the Turkish Grand National Assembly to see on the spot the damages caused by the treasonous attack on the Assembly on 15 July. During the meetings, the ongoing cooperation agenda between the Council of Europe and Turkey, as a founding member, latest developments in Turkey as well as regional and international issues will be discussed.
