We welcome the entry into force of the new law partially removing the system called "option model" in Germany.

On the other hand, we think that the fair and lasting solution will be the recognition of a comprehensive right to dual citizenship.

We consider the vision of “removal of the principle of preventing more than one citizenship from the German Citizenship Act”, and “the complete removal of the option practice in the existing law" expressed in the Decision adopted by the Federal Council on 19 September, 2014 as an important achievement in this regard.

We believe that the recognition of a comprehensive right to dual citizenship by the Federal Republic of Germany as it is recognized in numerous European countries will serve to further strengthen the social harmony which is implemented already as a state policy in this country.
